I don't need to explain myself to anybody when it comes to race relations; I grew up in a racially diverse community, have friends of many shapes, sizes, colors, ethnicities, backgrounds, etc., so those who'd like to lob "racist" labels at me after reading this can stuff it. You'll be dead wrong. Now, allow me to get to the point of this post...
Now that the NAACP (National Advancement for the Advancement of Colored People) has seen fit to pressure the Atlantic Coast Conference into boycotting the state of South Carolina, they must now do the same with those continually bringing the Memorial Day "Bikfest" events here, as well. Only fair, right?
For many years, the NAACP worked tirelessly to represent 'Bikefes' attendee rights; they sought to make sure folks coming to the Grand Strand enjoyed a fun weekend. That means tax money into the coffers of the state. Now it seems the NAACP is more interested in keeping people FROM visiting South Carolina and contributing to the state's sales tax revenues. Therefore, they should take the same approach they took with the A.C.C. with 'Bikefest' organizers.
That's right, civil rights' leaders... all those years you whined and griped about the Grand Strand doing their dead-level best to rid their streets of unruly traffic-clogging 2-wheelers fly in the FACE of your efforts to pursue boycotts by others towards the state. Therefore, if the ACC should be forced to boycott the state over a flag merely on display on a park in Columbia, then shouldn't you also persuade "Bikefesters" to avoid the state as well?
To do anything less would be hypocritical. Get to work on that, please!
